  • To schedule an intake please contact Melanie’s office at 214-477-6945. If you are scheduling counseling for your child, the initial intake is with the parents only. This gives you the opportunity to openly discuss your child, concerns and share other important information.

  • Progress in counseling varies greatly from one person to another and is based on the individual needs and goals of the client. During the initial intake as Melanie begins to better understand the client, she can make a determination of what the counseling process may entail. Counseling generally concludes when the problems for which you originally sought help alleviates to a more manageable level or is resolved.

  • Therapy sessions are $150 per 50-minutes.

  • Yes. Melanie is a provider on several insurance panels. If you would like to utilize insurance please inform Melanie prior to the intake session so she can discuss this with you further.

  • When insurance is utilized some confidential client information must be shared with the insurance company to determine benefits and payment. This can be invasive and employers can access this information. Insurance companies often require authorizations, limit the number of visits and other perimeters that can make the process overwhelming and frustrating.

  • For young children explain that your child will be coming to play with Ms. Melanie in a special room filled with toys. You may tell your child Ms. Melanie is a safe person to talk to about their feelings, worries and anything else they would like to talk about. Showing your child pictures of Melanie’s playroom on this site may be helpful as well.

    For older children explain that sometimes it helps to have someone else to talk to when they are worried, overwhelmed, or struggling with something. Tell your child you have made them an appointment to talk with someone who can help and that her name is Ms. Melanie.

  • Melanie strongly believes it is important to stay connected with the parents while your child is in counseling. She feels a collaborative approach to supporting your child is of the utmost importance. She will schedule regular parent consultations to share information about your child, discuss concerns, progress, and goals. Melanie is in regular communication with the parents in between parent consultations as well. She also may provide parenting strategies and other resources to help provide additional support for your family at home.
